Good morning Conroe TEXAS!!! We have talked about how we will be sharing a nutrition tip every Monday. Last week we talked about the 6 classes of nutrients. This week we are going to discuss one of the main nutrients, protein. Protein is an essential macro-nutrient that helps form important parts of muscles, bone, blood, enzymes, some hormones, and cell membranes. Protein also helps repair tissue, regulate water and acid-base balance, helps in growth, and supply’s energy. Some good sources of protein include meat, fish, poultry, eggs, legumes, and nuts. So if you’re wondering why people drink a protein shake post workout there is a purpose. Eating After a Workout Is Important. … After your workout, your body tries to rebuild its glycogen stores and repair and regrow those muscle proteins. Eating the right nutrients soon after you exercise can help your body get this done faster. It is particularly important to eat carbs and protein after your workout.
